Michelle’s Narconon Arrowhead Story

Michelle’s Narconon Arrowhead Story

The progression from casual drug use into full-blown drug addiction can be so subtle that the individual himself rarely comprehends just how thoroughly his life has changed because of drug substances. Even when an individual recognizes that drug substances are ruining their life, they are rarely able to reach out for the help they need in order to effectively recover. While there may be many reasons for why this may be the case, their own lack of certainty about the possibility of full recovery is a big one. This can be solved by finding an effective rehabilitation treatment solution.

Those individuals who believe that a drug addict can handle their problems by “just quitting” simply don’t understand the process or phases of addiction. An individual who turns to drug use normally does so because they have encountered some problem in their life that they are either unwilling or unable to face. They believe that drugs can help them in some way, and few individuals recognize the fact that drugs are actually no help at all.

Whatever an individual’s specific problem, the fact is that drug substances only suppress or hide this problem temporarily. What’s worse is that they create a host of new problems that the individual must then suppress through the use of even more drug substances. Eventually, the body grows to tolerate these chemical substances, and the individual finds that they no longer experience the same desirable effects with the same amount of drug use. This drives them to increase the amount of drug substances they are taking, which in turn can lead to financial and legal problems as the individual begins to sink more and more money and effort into doing whatever is needed to continue getting more drugs. Finally, they reach drug dependence and addiction, the conditions wherein they no longer have any control over their drug use habits and are driven to compulsively continue using these substances despite the damaging effects they create.

In order to be effective, a rehabilitation treatment facility and program must understand the process and phases of addiction thoroughly, and must address all aspects of addiction. They must also understand that no two individuals are the same, and treating someone’s addiction means empowering them to take control of their own life and decisions so that they can take responsibility for their past and move forward into a healthier, happier future.

Michelle’s Story

Before she arrived at Narconon Arrowhead, Michelle had been addicted to heroin for two years. Despite her young age, Michelle was unable to create the life and the future that she wanted, and her life was literally going nowhere. She eventually dropped out of school and moved to North Carolina with her boyfriend. Once there, Michelle was constantly getting high, getting into trouble and getting arrested. Luckily, she learned about Narconon before things completely spiraled out of control.

Through the Narconon program Michelle was able to rid her body of drug toxins and learn about drugs and how they affected her. She was able to take responsibility for her past decisions and her future. Her biggest success occurred about halfway through the program, when Michelle suddenly realized that she was once again in complete control of her own life, and absolutely nothing else was controlling her. She realized that she could take charge of her decisions and actions and do exactly what she truly wanted to do.

Michelle is very grateful to Narconon for giving her a new outlook on life, and recognizing that she can confront her problems rather than running from them with drug use. Now that she has completed her Narconon program, Michelle plans to go back to school and get her life set up the way she wants, and she is very grateful to have the opportunity to do so.
