guyNarconon Arrowhead, situated in Arrowhead State Park in southeastern Oklahoma, is a uniquely beautiful and tranquil setting. Overlooking the waters and shores of the expansive Lake Eufaula, it is surrounded by wooded hillsides abundant with wildlife; and a view of the sun rising in the morning and reflecting off the lake waters is good for the body, mind and soul. Hayes experienced reclaiming his life from addiction in this special place, and this is his story.

Life before Narconon Arrowhead

Hayes says that his life, before he got to Narconon Arrowhead—“if that’s what you want to call it”—was not much of a life.

He says it was nothing but drug and alcohol abuse for twenty-years; and the last two years of that twenty-year run, he says he “never drew a sober breath.”

Hayes says it was living Hell, not only for himself, but for anyone that he came in contact with. It was living Hell for his family and loved ones; who he says had “pretty much given-up on me.”

“I had given-up on myself”, he says. Hayes shares that he had come to a point where he “just didn’t know where to go—or what to do”.

It was at this low point in a life wracked with substance abuse that Hayes found Narconon Arrowhead. It was a turning point which was to restore his life to him.

Coming to Narconon Arrowhead

With so many who first come to Narconon Arrowhead, it is something which they have not previously experienced in their oftentimes numerous attempts to break-free from their addiction.

So it was with Hayes, and he shares his personal experience; and what about it was meaningful and important to him on his journey to long-term sobriety.

“When I first got to Narconon, I really didn’t know what to expect”, shares Hayes. He found the staff there to be “so kind and caring.” He could talk to them, and after talking with some of them and getting their stories, he realized that they knew how he was feeling, and what he had been through—“because they had been there, too.”

Hayes says the Narconon Arrowhead staff “made me feel so comfortable.”   He says he almost felt like he had been here before; that was just really comfortable. The staff “helped me through withdraw”, which he says was a difficult time; but Narconon Arrowhead staff made is so much better for him than it could have been on his own.

He adds that he really wants to thank the staff of Narconon for that; and “they do a wonderful job.”

A New Beginning

After Hayes completed the Narconon program, he shares with the reader that when he first walked in the door at Narconon Arrowhead, he wasn’t sure what to expect. He had been to other rehabs before, “and they were a hospital-type set-up.”   He says that to walk into the beautiful resort-type atmosphere of Narconon Arrowhead “just blew me away.”

The end of Hayes’ story of Narconon Arrowhead is really the beginning of his life story from here on out—a new beginning. And this is what he has to say about finishing the Narconon program there, and what it means to him: “Now that I’ve completed the Narconon program, I have myself back. I have my dignity and respect and work-ethics.”

Hayes leaves the reader with these parting words of his new beginning: “I feel like I did before I started using drugs—something I never thought I would ever have again. I thought it was gone for good–Narconon gave me that back.”
