Narconon Arrowhead Client Talks About Effects of Drugs on Family

When an individual falls into the abyss of drug addiction it can be very hard to think about anything besides their own misery. They may wish desperately for some way out of their troubles, but the fact is that drug addiction maintains an iron grip over their life that is extremely difficult to break even with help, and essentially impossible to break on one’s own. The drug addict may find that they are driven to continue using drug substances just to experience some measure of relief from the many damaging effects caused by these same substances, and they may begin to believe that there is just no way out.

What few people consider is the damaging effects that drug addiction has on the individual’s family members. While these individuals may not be suffering the direct effects of drug use, they are undoubtedly suffering all the same. They are often consumed by worry, guilt, frustration, anger and hopelessness over their loved one’s condition, and normally don’t understand why drug use even occurred in the first place. Furthermore they may feel conflicting emotions as they struggle to pick up their loved one’s dropped responsibilities, or as they come to realize that their loved one is not at all the same person they know and love while under the effects of drug substances and they will even stoop to deceiving, lying to and stealing from their family members if it allows them to continue their drug use.

Fortunately, effective rehabilitation treatment can not only help the individual put an end to his drug problem, it can help the individual repair their damaged relationships with their family members.

Narconon Arrowhead Graduate Reveals How Drugs Affected His Family

A recent Narconon Arrowhead graduate revealed just how drug use destroyed his life and the lives of his family members. Unwilling and unable to face the difficulties in his life, he used drugs to escape, but they only made things worse. Drug use put him under tremendous pressure and forced him down to the point where he no longer had anything and truly felt that he himself was nothing. The constant guilt he suffered over the things he had done and how he had hurt both his family and himself left him feeling lost, depressed and completely hopeless. His only relief was through the use of more drug substances, which of course only made matters continually worse.

When he finally arrived at Narconon Arrowhead and began his rehabilitation treatment with drug withdrawal, he suddenly realized that it was the first time in many years that he’d actually made it through any length of time without drug use. This one fact alone made him feel markedly better, and he began to believe that there was truly some hope for a healthier, happier future.

Every day that he moved forward on his Narconon program he felt better. Not only did he successfully address and resolve each and every cause and effect of his drug use, the general attitude of the Narconon staff and students was one of hope and dedication. He was empowered to take back control of his own life and future while surrounded by individuals who clearly believed that lasting sobriety was absolutely possible.

Now that he has finished his Narconon program he feels like he has an entirely new life. To this day he hasn’t so much as taken a single aspirin – successfully maintaining his complete sobriety. He wakes up each day, thankful to be healthy and alive and knowing that it’s going to be an amazing day. He loves his family, they love him, and he knows with absolute certainty that everything in his life will continue to move along very well.
