graduateFor years, Kelly had been suffering through her life as a drug addict. The longer she continued using drugs, the worse things got, and the more she felt that she couldn’t live her life without drugs. That’s how it happens. The person starts using drugs as a way out or as a “solution” to some type of problem in life, but of course the drugs only make things worse, and then before long there seems to be no way out except for using more drugs, and so the cycle continues. That’s what was happening in Kelly’s life. She had reached a point where there didn’t seem to be any other way. Her life seemed like it had been ruined. She had already been in and out of jail more than most people can imagine, and her family had all but given up hope of getting their daughter back. As a last resort, they tried Narconon. They sent her to the Narconon Arrowhead drug rehab center in Oklahoma, placing their last hopes in the well known addiction treatment program.

Narconon Arrowhead was not the first time that Kelly had been to rehab. She had actually been through several different rehab programs, each time hoping to turn her life around and make a fresh start, but each time ultimately failing to get sober and stay sober, and each time losing more faith in the possibility that rehab was her way out of addiction. When, in 2002, Kelly finally did make it to Narconon Arrowhead, she didn’t necessarily have reason to expect that things would turn out any differently. Fortunately for her and for her family, Narconon Arrowhead was the one drug rehab program that made good on its promises of help and recovery. Her life has never been the same since that time, and she now openly thanks Narconon Arrowhead for the help that she received there. Narconon was different from the other drug rehab programs that Kelly had been through previously, and these differences were important in making it possible for her to finally kick the habit and quit using drugs. Fundamentally, Narconon differs from most other programs in the way that it approaches the problem of addiction; rather than treating addiction as a disease or a stigma that will follow a person forever, it is viewed as a disability or a condition from which a person can recover through a proper address to both the physiological and the mental aspects of addiction.

Narconon Helps a Person to Regain Self-Respect

Towards the end of her time on the Narconon program, Kelly realized that she was a great person, someone who is worthy of experiencing a life filled with love, happiness and prosperity. Most addicts never come to this realization, and their lack of self-esteem keeps them trapped in the hopelessness of addiction. She regained her respect for herself and became her own friend once again, and this made all the difference. It was this realization that made it possible for her to mend her relationships with her family and friends, and to step back out into the world ready to take on life’s challenges. It has now been more than 10 years since Kelly’s life changed for the better, and she credits Narconon with helping her to make this fresh start. After trying so many times to get sober and failing, she has finally made a full and stable recovery from addiction and is able to live her life without the anxiety of worrying that she might suffer a sudden relapse without warning. Kelly’s story, as remarkable as it is, is only one example of many others like it that have occurred over the past several decades since the founding of the Narconon program and that continue to be told every year.
