Steps to a Drug-Free Life!

Narconon graduation

What is the Detoxification program and why does it play such an important role in getting people off drugs or alcohol as part of the Narconon program? It is a combination of exercise, sweating in a dry-heat sauna and a carefully monitored regimen of hydration and nutrition. The procedures break up and flush out the toxic residues that remain in the body—even after the person has stopped taking drugs.

Here is what students say about the New Life Detoxification:

“I have experienced an increase in my ability to smell, think and remember—also memories from my past that have not crossed my mind in years. The first week and a half of sauna I would leave feeling drained, agitated and cloudy. I no longer feel such and in fact, quite the opposite. I’m able to get in the gym right afterward and put in quality work. Mentally and physically I feel more alert and aware.”

My time in the sauna was an experience! I went from waking up in the morning feeling like my body was beaten down to the point I didn’t feel my age. I am so happy that I completed the sauna program! While it wasn’t easy, I got it done. Now I can wake up in the morning feeling amazing without taking anything!

After a person is free from the physical effects of drug and alcohol addiction, it’s time to address the mental and emotional aspects. This is done through the Objectives step of the Narconon program. The purpose of objectives is to bring the person out of the past and into present time—ready and able to face life without resorting to drugs.

The next step after that is a series of Life Skills courses to help the person find the reason they turned to drugs in the first place and learn the tools to map a drug-free future.

One student shares his wins on this step of the program:

Objectives, at first you begin with training drills and watching films to help you help yourself and your twin get thru objectives with the most gains for the both of you.

“Another student really helped me to get the most out of the sessions. After completing Objectives, I got started on the book/coursework section of the program. I really got a lot of useful data on identifying anti-social and social personalities. Writing out all the things I kept to myself for so long really made me feel free and happy!!”
