The first time I told my mom I was shooting up meth I was 22 years old. I had been awake for 6 days, and I was both sleep deprived and living in filth. I was so addicted to meth, that at times I didn’t know if the lights were on or off.

The relationship I was in at that time wasn’t a healthy relationship. My girlfriend and I both used meth and would be strung out on dope for weeks at a time. Like many relationships founded on drugs, my girlfriend and I had a relationship that was violent. We would fight all the time, all hours of the night until we could get our next fix.

My mother became ashamed of me; she didn’t want to see her kid strung out on drugs. She always worried that the next day would be the day someone would call and tell her I overdosed. I was so skinny and out of my mind that my mom told me that when she saw me it was like looking at a stranger.

At that moment I realized that the drugs were slowly killing me and at the same time it was tearing my mother apart. I couldn’t let her see me tearing my body apart and in the process knowing she felt like she was losing her son.

This time I was going to find help and I contacted Narconon Arrowhead. I am finally sober and I know that this program helped change my life. If you or a family member has an addiction get help.
