guyDrug abuse and addiction can so interfere with an individual’s life that he honestly has no life to speak of, and he doesn’t know what to do to change it or even if he can change it. Where once he turned to drug substances as a solution, these substances have become the biggest problem in the individual’s life, and the one from which all other problems stem.

Drug use is essentially like trying to handle a broken arm with a bandaid. At best, drugs can temporarily suppress the full symptoms of a problem. However, over time the human body can become accustomed to the regular use of these substances, first tolerating and then depending upon them. When the individual experiences tolerance, they will find that drugs no longer produce the same desirable effects they once did, and they often “solve” this new problem by taking even more drugs. When the individual experiences dependence, they will find that they cannot operate without continued drug use, because these substances have become necessary in order to operate each and every day. Luckily, there is a way out – through effective rehabilitation treatment.

Russ’ Experience at Narconon

Russ began his journey into drug use by smoking weed when he was only twelve years old. Shortly after that, he began taking Xanax. By the time he was nineteen years old, Russ had tried just about every drug he could get his hands on. Among the many drugs he was using a were high quantities of Ecstasy, Xanax and OxyContin.

Needless to say, Russ had no life to speak of. He had no relationship with his family members, and never even saw them. Worse still, he didn’t even care. What romantic relationship he had tried to create had long been suffering, and Russ didn’t care enough to do anything about it. The friends Russ had were not true friends at all – not by any stretch of the imagination – but rather just individuals that he hung out with when they wanted to get high.

When Russ first arrived at Narconon Arrowhead he was skeptical about whether the program could actually work for him. He was very skeptical about the idea of a drug-free withdrawal – it seemed to him impossible to come down off drug use without some sort of aid. He is glad to say that he was very pleasantly surprised by just how workable the Narconon program is. During the withdrawal portion of his program, Russ was cared for my staff members who treated him very kindly and helped to make his drug withdrawals as comfortable as possible. He was struck by the fact that he was detoxing but he was very laid back and comfortable, and he knew that he was being well taken care of.

While every aspect of the Narconon program was amazing, Russ’ favorite part was completing the sauna detoxification portion of the program. When he completed this portion he felt absolutely amazing – far better than he had in very a long time. He could look outside the facility and actually see the ripples on the lake – a little thing that gave him great pleasure. His skin felt baby soft, his body felt clean and his head felt clear. It was like an amazing rebirth.

Where the sauna detoxification program helps to take care of the individual’s body and mind, the rest of the Narconon program helps to prepare the individual for the world before them. Russ learned the valuable information and tools he needs to be confident in his future, and never return to drug use again. He knows now that he has everything he needs in order to succeed in life, and he is confident that he will, thanks to Narconon. There is nothing more rewarding that working hard to take back control of his life, and successfully doing so, and Russ is glad he has now experienced this.
