I Can Succeed in Staying Clean and Sober

Before I came to Narconon to pursue a drug-free life, I told my friends and family I would keep an open mind and really try. That was also a promise I made to myself even though I felt I was just going through the motions. I kept that promise—but not without help.

Upon arrival at Narconon, I could barely walk. I was 120lbs and I was severely malnourished and dehydrated. My physical recovery began in withdrawal and sauna with Elaine, who was always there urging me on. By the time I was done with sauna, I was able to walk with confidence, my weight had increased to 150lbs and I had increased mobility. My wins and gains continue now, thanks to her help.

In my mental state, the Objectives course was incredibly challenging for me, but Les was there patiently guiding me forward. Despite this help, I came very close to giving up. Only through the efforts of Fio and Les was I able to preserve and keep that promise to myself. The biggest win I had on Objectives was the increase in my ability to observe the environment. I now notice even the smallest changes in my immediate environment and adapt quickly.

I passed my Life Skills courses and learned that I can, in fact, succeed in staying clean and sober both here and at home. I now have a better appreciation of who I choose to share my life with. Finally, I realized that I spent most of my life pretending to be someone I was not, and now have a clear understanding of who I am and who I am meant to be.

Thanks to the staff and the students at Narconon Arrowhead. I know that I am a good man who is ready to move forward as a productive member of society and enjoy a happy drug-free life.
