Wilderness Arrowhead State Park in Southeastern Oklahoma is 2200 acres of beauty, situated on a peninsula of the expansive Lake Eufaula with its over 600 miles of shoreline.  The lake provides stunning sunrises and sunsets over its waters, along with swimming, boating and fishing.  Within the confines of the park are places to camp, hiking trails, trails specifically for horseback riding, and ample opportunities to relax and enjoy Mother Nature and her bounty.  It is this special place that is home to Narconon Arrowhead, a very special drug rehabilitation center.  Although there is much that is uncommon, let’s take a look at 5 things that are unique to Narconon Arrowhead.

The Location

The location of the Narconon Arrowhead center provides a uniquely peaceful and naturally beautiful setting, with the main lodge of the center of stone, copper and glass overlooking the expanse of Lake Eufaula.  Because it is located within the confines of Arrowhead State Park, the native wildlife are safe, and flourish in this environment.  Narconon Arrowhead shares its location with deer, wild turkeys, eagles, foxes, armadillos, raccoons, opossums, turtles and an abundance of songbirds.  For a person stressed by the lifestyle of an addict, the location’s  quietude and abundance of life is therapeutic in and of itself.

The Program

Narconon Arrowhead is unique in its delivery of a drug-free holistic rehabilitation program.  It is an address to the whole person, mentally, physically and spiritually.

The three main components of the Narconon program include the Training Routines which improve the individual’s ability to communicate, the sauna detoxification which reduces the physical burden of drug residues and toxins with a resultant resurgence in the person’s physical wellbeing, and the Life Skills Courses which provide the individual with real and workable tools enabling him or her to live a drug-free and productive life.

The Activities

Due to Narconon Arrowhead’s unique location and environment,  there are ample opportunities for activities not commonly found elsewhere, including  wildlife watching , viewing the stunning sunsets over the lake, supervised swimming and fishing, and therapeutic walks along the lake.  For the sports inclined, there is an outdoor basketball court, and a great hill at the back of the lodge for sliding when an occasional winter snow allows.  Indoors are the Exercise and Weight Room and movies.  For the artists and musicians, there is an opportunity to meet others of like-mind also there for the rehab program, and to do some jamming.  Fine artists often find the aesthetic lodge lobby a quiet and inspirational location to create their work, as well.

The Graduation

The main lodge of Narconon Arrowhead is impressive in its size, design and rustic beauty, including a large auditorium with a capacity to seat the student body, staff, and the friends and family who attend a Narconon Arrowhead graduation ceremony.  Graduation is unique to Narconon, and Friday nights at Narconon Arrowhead are graduation night!  It is the special celebration and acknowledgement of those individuals who have completed the Narconon rehabilitation program.  Each person who has walked their personal road to recovery is given the opportunity to speak, and share the moments and stories of their journey most important to them.  It is a source of profound inspiration to all.

The Aftercare

Unique to Narconon Arrowhead’s aftercare program is the opportunity for graduates of the rehab program there to enroll in the life-changing Training Program.  It is one of the most, if not the most basic of all human desires, to help another.  It is this opportunity for a recovered addict to help others achieve sobriety that is the driving force behind the success of the training program.  It gives the newly recovered addict an unparalleled opportunity to experience the personal rewards that are a part of being a member of a dedicated and purposeful group working together to save lives.  The training program also functions as a very successful component of the center’s aftercare program, allowing the newly recovered addict to remain in a safe, controlled and familiar environment surrounded by people who will contribute to the person maintaining their sobriety as they learn new and professional skills. For many, it serves as the beginning of a lifelong and very rewarding career.
