manCocaine is known to be highly addictive, due in no small part to its reported immediate and extremely pleasurable effects. Part of its trap lies in the fact that the cocaine high is intense, but brief. Its short-lived euphoria can also make its user feel more energetic, producing wakefulness and reducing hunger. Mental effects can include a feeling of well-being along with a grandiose-type sense of power. Mixed-in with these feelings are those of restlessness and anxiety. And as the cocaine effects wear-off, the user is left with intense depression and will “crash”, typically becoming lethargic and sleeping for a number of days. Ken was addicted to cocaine, and this is his story.

Cocaine Addiction

Before arriving at Narconon Arrowhead in Southeastern Oklahoma, Ken says he was using a lot of crack cocaine, cocaine powder, and a little bit of alcohol.

He says he had individuated from his family, and was just on his own. He did not want to talk to his parents, and did not want to see his kids. Actually, he says he didn’t want to see or talk to anybody.

The cocaine was making his life spiral completely out of control.

Breaking-free from Cocaine

Ken says that when he first got to Narconon Arrowhead, he was “ready and willing.” That was the main thing for him—he was ready and willing to get off drugs once and for all.

He arrived at the Narconon Arrowheadlong-term residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, and found it to be a nice place. He says all the staff there were great—“they just bring you right in”, and get you started on your vitamins. He says staff gets you ready “to start kicking-off your old drug habits.”

Ken says that when he got to Narconon Arrowhead, he felt really positive about being there.

When talking about the Narconon rehab program, Ken says the part of the program that seemed to do the most for him was the Narconon Sauna program, or New-Life Detoxification Program. That phase of the rehab program was where he was excited to get to. He knew it would help him.

He says that after about 3 weeks on the New-Life Detoxification Program, it was a whole different change for him. “I didn’t have any more drug cravings. I felt like I was 25 again”, he shares with the reader. Ken says he was even able to play sports with all the young kids who were also on the Narconon program at the center.

It was on the Narconon Sauna phase of the Narconon program where Ken realized, “Hey! This program really does work!”

Another part of the Narconon program that really helped Ken was one where “we did exercises and different drills”, and “it seemed to really bring me out of my past, and put me into present time.”

He shares with the reader that that part of the rehab program and made him“ just feel really good about me—now.” He adds that it made him feel really good, as well, about everything he was going through, and was taking place with him. He says this was another part of the Narconon program “that really did help me.”

Ken wants the reader to know that as a result of completing the Narconon Program at Narconon Arrowhead, he feels “like a whole new man, a whole new Dad, a whole new son—a whole new everything.”

In closing, he says that having the life skills tools that Narconon has given him to use when he goes out into the real world makes him “real positive about getting out there and knowing I will be able to stay clean this time.”
