Perhaps one of the most troubling things about drug addiction is the individual’s inability to resolve their drug problems, despite a strong desire to do so. It can be true that many individuals will outwardly deny that they have a drug problem or that they need help with their drug problems, but this may just be a symptom of guilt and embarrassment. Deep down, most drug addicts are aware of the fact that drugs have taken over their life and they truly desire to disconnect from their drug use. The problem is that they simply don’t know how to.

Experiencing a Rebirth

Mitch admits that before he arrived at Narconon Oklahoma his life was nothing short of terrible. He was so entirely trapped in his drug addiction problems that he spent much of his time living on the streets and stealing from his family members to support his drug habit. He was constantly sick because he was always at some stage of heroin withdrawal, and this forced him to continue taking drugs just to achieve some sort of “normal” that was actually anything but.

When Mitch first arrived at Narconon Oklahoma he was very nervous and scared about what lay ahead. There was no doubt in his mind that he was done with drug use, but he had tried achieving sobriety through many other rehabilitation treatment programs without experiencing lasting success. He just wanted to be free from the stranglehold of drug addiction, and he felt that Narconon would be the best place to help him do this. He is very glad that he wasn’t disappointed.

The staff at Narconon treated Mitch with kindness and compassion, and for the first time Mitch wasn’t treated as though he had some incurable disease, but rather he was treated as though everyone around him really cared about his recovery and helping him reach it. With the help of both the staff and the program Mitch found it was actually easy to come off drug use. Mitch says it was the best and easiest drug withdrawal he had ever experienced, even while taking into account the fact that it made him the sickest he had ever been in his life. The support and encouragement he received from the staff, as well as the nutritional support he received throughout the process helped Mitch cope with the discomfort he was experiencing and persist through until he had thoroughly cleansed his body of drug toxins.

Following his detoxification program Mitch experienced a big change in himself. He no longer had drug dreams or cravings for drug substances all the time. He felt healthier and was sleeping well, eating well and looking well. When he called his parents to update them on his progress they even mentioned how much better he sounded. Mitch discovered he had a better outlook on his future, and he finally had some hope for a better life.

Now that Mitch has completed the entire Narconon program he sees a big, wonderful future before him. He knows he can return to his job without experiencing any worry over whether he will relapse into drug use at some point in the future. He is absolutely certain he does not now and will not ever need or want drugs in his life again. He finds it hard to express just how much he got out of the Narconon program because it literally has changed everything for the better. He feels more in touch with his mind and his body, and is ready to go out and take on the world. It’s like a wonderful rebirth, and he is very grateful to the program and staff who helped him to make it so.
