donatingIn the spirit of the Holiday Season, Narconon Arrowhead reaches out to support fellow social betterment groups in the local communities.

Narconon Arrowhead Holiday Traditions

Narconon Arrowhead is a social betterment group with a strong mission to help others who are suffering the ravages and consequences of drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. It is a day-in and day-out mission, as substance abuse takes no holidays. But at this special time of year, the Canadian, Oklahoma-based drug rehabilitation and education center reaches out to offer even more help to those in-need.

The center traditionally hosts a number of special holiday events and activities for clients (students) on the Narconon program during the holidays.   Traditions include raising and decorating the Christmas tree, “decking the halls” to ensure the main lodge is beautifully decorated for Christmas, a talent show for staff and students to showcase their musical and performance abilities, and a special Christmas Dinner to which student family and friends are invited to attend.

There is also the building and manning of the annual Christmas parade float which carries its drug-free message to the local communities by participating in the McAlester, Eufaula, Checotah and Muskogee Christmas parades.

For more than 8 years, the Narconon Arrowhead Food Pantry has provided food and other items to those in the community who are in-need. This year, the name of this charitable activity was changed to the Narconon Arrowhead Holiday Pantry due to the fact it provides so much more than food.

Supported by donations and fund-raising bake sales, the Narconon Arrowhead Holiday Pantry also supplies individuals in-need with a broad selection of personal hygiene items, diapers, and much needed funds.

Donations to Local Organizations

The Hope House of McAlester provides supportive services for women and children, including emergency shelter, food, clothing, transportation, nutrition education, housing assistance, healthcare referrals, skills training, job search, counseling and any other service which might be needed by a family.

Hope House of McAlester is one of the social betterment groups who received a donation of much needed items from Narconon Arrowhead this holiday season. Included in the donation of goods will be diapers and baby wipes, personal hygiene items, laundry detergent, trash bags, and whatever items the women and children might need.

As Narconon Arrowhead works towards raising additional funds through its fund-raising bake sales and donations, it has its sights on making a donation to God’s Helping Hands, a food pantry located in nearby Eufaula and serving McIntosh County, as well as the Eufaula and McIntosh County Youth Shelters.

There is great need during this time of year, and Narconon Arrowhead stands ready to help any other groups which may reach out to them during the holiday season, and will do its best to honor those requests for assistance.

Gary W. Smith, Executive Director of Narconon Arrowhead expressed the desire of the executives and staff of the rehab center to show their appreciation to the communities that support the center throughout the year. He added that in the helping of a woman or child in need this holiday season, it may give that mother the boost she needs in order to avoid the problems resulting from drug abuse. “We want all our friends to know that someone cares”, he said.

Narconon Arrowhead wishes everyone a happy and drug-free holiday. The drug rehabilitation and education center will remain open throughout the holiday season, providing its drug-free rehabilitation services to addicts and alcoholics in-need.
