It started with an extensive background of drug and alcohol use. That lifestyle inevitably led me here, to Narconon Arrowhead. I’m very fortunate to be part of a hard-working family who love me—especially my father, who sacrificed his retirement to afford getting me help, and my stepmom, who, through being social, knew a graduate of the Narconon program from about twenty years earlier. That person had come for a similar issue and is still doing well to this day.
I arrived here in April 2025. During my first month, we had a guest speaker who had graduated from the program twenty-eight years earlier and was still sober. He explained that once we graduate, temptations will be waiting for us as soon as we walk out the door. But he also said that if we needed to stay longer, then we should stay.
Knowing my past and wanting to honor my family, I realized I needed more time, and hearing him say that gave me the validation I needed. I deserve to be okay, and my family deserves for me to be okay.
As I went through the program, I witnessed the staff’s dedication—from the executives to the delivery staff to the estates staff. I saw people working until midnight every day, seven days a week, then being up again for breakfast at 8:00 a.m. without ever complaining. They were always quick to help anyone with a smile, and when new situations came up on top of their already full workload, they simply handled them. It was hard not to admire.
On multiple occasions, I thought, “This is a winning team. These people care.” My decision to stay here was a combination of factors—not just needing more time or admiring the staff. I never felt like I was in a treatment center. This place felt like a home. My fellow students were like little brothers and sisters, and the staff were like big brothers and sisters to me. No one evaluated me harshly, invalidated me, or got angry with me. My food was cooked for me. My dishes were done for me. Everything was provided. I felt genuinely cared for, and my only responsibility was to do the program.
“I get to see others overcome their addictions, witness their transformations, and see families restored.”
The program, the staff, and every single person here—including the students—played a pivotal role in helping me free myself from the serious restraints I had placed on my own life. That’s why I wanted to become part of the staff. I care deeply about the people who contributed to my success, and this is my way of giving back. Now, I get to see others overcome their addictions, witness their transformations, and see families restored.
The training is straightforward and designed for success. We work one-on-one with a trained staff member to learn the material, then continue working with them to apply it until both we and the staff member are confident in our abilities.
It’s simple, and it’s incredibly rewarding to have an impact on people’s lives.
