Becoming the Person I Was Born to Be

When I first came to Narconon Arrowhead, I was a complete mess. I was drinking too much. I was not doing the things that I was supposed to do as part of the community. I was not doing good things for my family. And, of course, I was harming myself.
When I first arrived and went to Withdrawal, I did not know what to expect and was scared. I had to have a lot of rest and get my blood pressure back to normal. By the end of Withdrawal, I can say I felt good. In doing the drills, I felt stronger, more secure, and confident, and realized that I can do things that I thought were impossible.
“I felt like a lot of weight came off me. I feel way better now: more energetic, sharper mentally, brighter, clearer, more enthusiastic, and full of hope.”
After Withdrawal I went to the sauna (New Life Detoxification) every day for about 25 days. It took a lot of toxins, chemicals, and, of course, alcohol residues out of my system. I felt like a lot of weight came off me. I feel way better now: more energetic, sharper mentally, brighter, clearer, more enthusiastic, and full of hope.
Then I went to the course room. On Objectives I realized a lot of things I was doing wrong and saw that I had an incorrect point of view. I gained a whole different point of view of my own life. I was surprised by a better understanding of life and everything I had done. I stopped looking at myself like a victim and started to learn from my experiences. In addition to my own wins, I had a lot of wins running my twin on Objectives.
The Ups and Downs course showed me the characteristics of social and antisocial people and showed me how to identify those types of personalities to stay away from. I liked this course because I did not know how to correctly label people. It showed me what to look for when I get to know someone, as well as which people to be around and who to stay away from.
The Personal Values course was the hardest part of the program for me. In doing this course, I realized how much I was harming myself and harming my family—the people I love the most and who love and worry about me. I did a lot of bad shit, and I was hurting myself a lot. By the time I was done with the course, I felt a really big difference in myself. I felt relief, lighter, and all my fears went away. Personal Values was another step to clean my soul and get me ready to go out there to start my new life, all clean and with a different mindset.
The Changing Conditions in Life course showed me in what condition I was before coming to Narconon, and it gave me tools to improve my conditions so that my life will get better.
So, looking at the whole program, it was hard, but in the end, I had a lot of wins from it, and it did a lot to help me keep away from alcohol and other drugs and to be a better person every day.
Thank you to all the staff members at Narconon Arrowhead and to the Narconon Program for this new person I have become. I am ready to start my new life clean and drug-free, with a different mindset, so that I can become the successful person I was born to be.
