Free From the Desire to Use

The program that I thought I was going to was not the one I am now graduating from. I never would have really imagined that such a comprehensive course existed. I am not only free from the desire to use methamphetamine, but I am free from what had me using in the first place. This eliminates the desire to use in the future. My body has been freed from the toxins, and my mind has been rejuvenated. I am more clear on what I want to do moving forward in my life and who I want to do it with, as well as why I want to do the things I am going to do. I am excited about my life again, and I am not being held back by past regrets. I was always being held back by resentments and regrets; I could never get past them, so I kept slipping back into using, and I was just never able to let it go.
I have been to many other programs to get clean, and it would almost be impossible to compare this one to any other. The program at Narconon is totally comprehensive and works on all aspects of ridding your body of drugs, all the way through to life skills and life-changing conditions moving forward. I ended up here through a recommendation from a truly close friend and am eternally grateful—so grateful. This course saved my life. I would never have made it. This is a special rehab because you end up dropping the idea that you ever did the drugs or that you were drinking. You no longer even see yourself or feel that you were that person, which I never expected. From this program, I really got that. A lot of other programs keep you clean, but when you’re done you’re still a druggie, an addict—whatever you are. But when I came here, at the end of it, I didn’t even know what they were talking about. That person was never me. And not just mentally: you let go of your regrets, you let go of your attachments, and you move past them, so I’m excited to get out of here because I’m ready to move on with the rest of my life.

The last point I would like to make to anyone thinking about recovery is that the staff truly care about the students here in recovery. They are like your family pushing you, holding your hand, and encouraging you all the way through to graduation and beyond. Thank you.
