Life Is Hard, Beautiful, Exciting and Worth It!

I knew getting my life back on track wasn’t going to be easy but with the staff’s help, it wasn’t so difficult.

During the sauna program, I felt toxins leave my body and though those five hours daily in the sauna seemed unbearable at times, I got through it.

When I finished the sauna program I no longer had the D.T.’s (something I thought I was going to have to live with for at least the next year). The sauna program fixed that for me and rid my entire body of all toxins.

Next came Training Drills and Objectives. While doing the training drills, I finally started to feel comfortable in my own skin again and I developed a skill that I think is priceless…intention without reservation. There have been so many times I’ve said I wouldn’t drink, then an hour later I’d be at the liquor store. With intention without reservation, now I understand what that is and how to do it. With Objectives, I faced my biggest opponent, myself. With the help from my twin, I was able to get into present time and stay there. I never lived my life in present time. I always lived in the past or stressed over the future.

Once I got into present time I started to appreciate things and see things through clear eyes. My awareness of my control over my body and mind increased. I actually started to be patient. I was able to confront myself and really started to understand why I did what I did.

“Once I got through it, I realized that my responsibility increased to a level I didn’t think possible and I am more aware to not make the same mistakes I had made in the past.”

When I did Ups & Downs in Life I realized that many of my family and friends are good people and I learned how to protect myself from anti-social personalities. With Personal Values, I opened a new can of worms. This step was very hard but because I was able to confront myself I got through it. Once I got through it, I realized that my responsibility increased to a level I didn’t think possible and I am more aware to not make the same mistakes I had made in the past.

The last book of the program, Changing Conditions in Life, showed me that I can make up the damage I had done and gave me tools to flourish and prosper.

I have had many gains and wins throughout this program but the best part of the program for me changed everything. Once I worked the steps, I faced myself head-on, I can honestly say I know I will remain drug and alcohol-free for the rest of my life. I will continue to work the Conditions on all areas of my life forever.

Being on drugs and alcohol was easy, boring, scary, numbing, and dull. Life is hard, beautiful, exciting, and worth it!

I was studying at the University of Florida when hurricane Harvey hit. The destruction that Harvey wrought opened my eyes to the world and those that were in desperate need of help. Since then, I found my calling at Narconon Arrowhead where I have helped hundreds of individuals move on to live new, drug-free lives.
