Drug and Alcohol Addiction Help Near Blackwell

Blackwell residents can easily access our facility via the major highways of US-412 E, US-75 S, I-35 S or I-40E. When a person enrolls in the Narconon Arrowhead program, they are assisted through proven methods of reducing or eliminating physical cravings for drugs and repairing the damage drug use has caused. Then they are assisted in addressing the mental and emotional difficulties that led to addiction in the first place. The first step of the process is a fully assisted and supported withdrawal. Since repeated drug use depletes the body’s essential stores of vitamins and minerals, a crucial element of the Narconon approach includes rebuilding these stores, improving the body’s overall health and decreasing the long-lasting harmful effects of drug abuse.

The next step of the process is a thorough detoxification called the Narconon New Life Detoxification. This program uses a moderate-heat sauna, nutritional supplements, and mild exercise to rid the addict of all traces of drugs that have built up in the fatty tissues. Removing these deposits greatly reduces the chances of flashbacks, reduces or eliminates cravings, and improves mental clarity.

Narconon Addresses Both Physical and Mental Facets of Addiction

Conquering the physical aspects of drug addiction is just one piece of a full rehabilitation. Our “whole person” approach also addresses two other major obstacles that often get in the way of a successful recovery: depression and guilt. With the assistance of trained professionals, addicts learn practical, real-life communication skills and learn how to create relationships that will assist them in achieving happiness and success. The tools acquired during the course of the Narconon program help the student to avoid situations and problems that could lead to future drug abuse. These new skills and other aspects of the program often lift a person out of any depression they may be experiencing. The former addict also addresses the guilt they often feel as a result of past actions and how they treated the people in their life. They are given real tools they can use to unburden themselves and then prevent future acts that would make them feel guilty again.

These tools and much, much more provide a holistic approach that puts a person back in charge of their own life and on the road to a full and permanent recovery.

Oklahoma’s Drug Problem Strikes Close to Home

While it might be easy to imagine that drug abuse is something that happens only in other communities, the truth is that Blackwell is affected by this growing problem every day. Just a few months ago two individuals were arrested when neighbors in their apartment building reported suspicious activity to the police. When police arrived on the scene they found drug paraphernalia, meth, meth “ingredients,” and manufacturing equipment in the apartment. Luckily for the others in the building, this meth cooking operation was discovered and shut down. All too often, a meth lab ends up contaminating the surrounding units. The lives of everyone in the building are endangered because meth labs are prone to fires and explosions.

In addition to meth problems, our community suffers from opioid addiction and overdose. Many overdoses are intentional, but many are unintentional and are the result of a mistake made when taking a prescription drug. Because overdose deaths have become so common, a law was recently passed allowing first responders (and others) to deliver a dose of an opioid antidote called Narcan. Over 450 officers have already been trained to recognize the signs of opioid overdose and then correctly administer the antidote. Narcan has already saved thousands of lives and will continue to save many more as its use expands.
