Addiction affects many people in Oklahoma and around the country. If you or a loved one is suffering from addiction to illegal drugs, prescription medications or alcohol, and you are searching for an alternative drug rehabilitation center that really works, Narconon Arrowhead is the answer. Located 90 miles south of Tulsa in beautiful Arrowhead State Park in the small town of Canadian, Narconon Arrowhead offers a treatment plan that addresses each person as an individual and targets their specific needs.  Claremore residents are only an hour and a half away from the nationally renowned Narconon Arrowhead facility that has been providing trusted, proven addiction treatment for 25 years.

The Narconon program begins with an assisted withdrawal that is made as comfortable as possible. This is followed by a unique detoxification program that removes any remaining traces of drugs from the body. Drugs build up in the fatty tissues. Left untreated, these drug deposits can re-enter the bloodstream at a later time, (even months or years later) causing the person to re-experience some of the original effects of the drugs. Needless to say, this can hinder recovery and can cause relapses. That is why Narconon’s detoxification program is so effective: it eliminates this problem.  Over 11,000 people credit Narconon Arrowhead with saving them from a meaningless life controled by drug use.  Give your loved one the best possible chance at recovery. Drug and Alcohol Help Near Claremore

A CARF- accredited program, Narconon Arrowhead recognizes that addressing only the physical effects of drug abuse is not enough. An addict suffers from mental, spiritual, and moral troubles as well. Common among these are guilt over previous behavior while under the influence, distrust of self, and worry that others will never trust them again. Narconon Arrowhead guides the person through study of certain life “tools” that can be used to address these issues. Patients practice their use until they are confident they can apply them in life.  Residents of Claremore can easily access the Narconon Arrowhead facility via US-69 S.

Claremore’s Drug Problem Hits Close to Home

Claremore has seen its share of drug-related problems over the years. Local, state and federal authorities recently collaborated to obtain and then execute a search warrant at Pipe Smokes Shop in Claremore. This was the culmination of an investigation into the alleged sale of “K2,” which is a synthetic version of marijuana that is far more potent. K2, also known as “Spice,” mimics the action of marijuana in the body. It is actually a liquid produced in a lab and then sprayed onto herbs or something similar. Until recently, K2 could be acquired legally by purchasing it labeled as incense and marked “not for human consumption” (which the buyer, of course, ignored.) This practice was banned in 2012.

Though undercover agents had made purchases of K2 at Pipes Smoke Shop, it required the cooperation of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, as well as other government agencies, to execute the warrant since the store is on tribal land. Authorities seized samples of a substance they believe to be K2. Tests will be performed to verify what the substance is.

Use of marijuana or K2 is not the only drug-related problem in this area. Like every other city in Oklahoma, Claremore residents also suffer from addiction to prescription medications, mostly powerful painkillers such as oxycodone or hydrocodone. Drug overdoses claimed more lives last year than car crashes, with the vast majority stemming from prescription drugs rather than from illegal substances. Oklahoma leads the nation in the percentage of the population that admits to using prescriptions for non-medical purposes. To curb the quickly-rising statistics of prescription medication abuse, Governor Fallin recently signed into law a bill which requires doctors to check a state-wide database when prescribing powerful, addictive substances. The law is designed to prevent a practice known as “doctor shopping,” in which a patient visits multiple doctors, receiving multiple prescriptions. The bill passed 35 – 10 in the Senate, then was quickly signed into law by Fallin. This particular bill has been a priority for the governor as she seeks to address the state’s out-of-control prescription medication epidemic. She hopes that measures such as this one will help to greatly reduce the number of prescriptions being written which unknowingly feed someone’s addiction.
