Drug Abuse Problems in Cushing OK Strike Close to Home

There have been several stories in the news lately about residents of Cushing who have committed drug-related crimes.  Recently a Cushing local and repeat offender was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. She was also charged with driving without a license. She had also been previously arrested several times for crimes relating to methamphetamine production and cocaine distribution. While being interviewed by police, she claimed that she hadn’t used drugs in four months, but she admitted to using marijuana, meth, cocaine, and two different types of prescription drugs in her lifetime. She told police that she wasn’t going to hang out with people that do drugs anymore and that she was “excited” to have a chance to go to drug court again.

In another recent news story, a woman was arrested after attempting to smuggle drugs to her husband, who is serving an 18-year sentence at the Cimarron Correction Facility. The drugs found in her possession in the facility were marijuana, meth and alprazolam. This young lady was given a 30-day jail sentence and was placed on probation after security cameras caught her passing two small packages to her husband in a visiting area of the jail. She claimed that she did not know what was in the packages.
