Addiction Help Near Skiatook

Skiatook residents can easily access our facility via the major highways of US-69 S, OK-72 S, or US-75 S.  Because there are many rehabilitation options out there, it is important to know what makes Narconon Arrowhead different and what makes it so successful. As with many other programs, the Narconon process starts off with a full withdrawal. Unlike other programs, however, the Narconon withdrawal process includes specially designed methods that help a person direct their attention outward rather than inward toward the pain and discomfort that withdrawal inevitably causes. At the same time, Narconon helps the person to repair the physical damage drug use causes in the body by utilizing specific, carefully monitored nutritional supplements.

After withdrawal is complete, the next step is the Narconon New Life Detoxification program. This program is unique to Narconon, and involves reaching deep into the body’s tissues to dislodge and remove the deposits of drugs that build up there over time. These deposits, if left untreated, cause flashbacks, mental fogginess, and recurrences of the drugs’ effects. The New Life Detoxification utilizes a moderate-heat sauna, mild exercise, and a regimen of nutritional supplements to continue the body’s healing process.

Narconon’s Unique Approach

After the person has conquered the physical aspects of drug abuse, they are ready to tackle the mental and emotional aspects. There are many schools of thought on just how important these factors are in a full rehabilitation. Some programs focus primarily on physical causes of addiction, while others do the opposite, focusing mainly on the mental causes. At Narconon, we feel that both are important. We know that a full rehabilitation can only be accomplished if a person is free from all chemical dependence. This includes dependence upon medications (such as methadone) that are used as replacements for illegal drugs. After all, these drugs are just a crutch. If the person is dependent on them for their sobriety, are they really drug free?

At Narconon our staff is trained to assist people in learning and then applying certain “life tools” that effectively deal with depression, guilt, and the underlying causes of each person’s addiction. The person emerges from the program with tools they can take with them for the rest of their life. Our program has a high rate of success and a low rate of recidivism.

How Drug Abuse is Affecting the Skiatook Community

It can be easy to think that drug problems are something that other communities have to deal with, but that Skiatook is immune to. However, this is not the case. Skiatook has its share of drug dealers and addicts. Skiatook police have carried out many arrests, including an incident last summer in which four Skiatook residents were arrested on drug-related charges. Two of them were drug dealers and at least one of them was a fugitive in possession of a gun.

In addition to illegal drugs, prescription drugs play a large role in Skiatook’s drug problem. Prescription drug abuse is a problem all across Oklahoma. In fact, Oklahoma’s Pharmacy Board has had to fine some of our state’s pharmacies as a penalty for some serious violations. The Pharmacy Board is charged with ensuring that all safety regulations and protocols are followed to keep Oklahomans safe from the large stores of drugs located in pharmacies. However, it appears that many Oklahoman pharmacies have been negligent in their duties, including one right here in Skiatook that received the largest fine handed out in the state. Violations in the various pharmacies have ranged from pills going missing by the thousands to pharmacists entering false codes into the computer system (which is supposed to monitor prescriptions, prescribing practices, etc.) It was also found that certain health care workers and pharmacy employees were using their positions to illegally obtain hundreds of thousands of pills.
