In recent years, America’s drug problem has spiraled out of control. The culprit? Prescription medications that are increasingly easy to obtain and highly addictive. In the past decade, abuse of prescription medications has increased by a whopping four hundred percent. Eighty percent of all Oklahomans who die from a drug overdose die because of prescription medications, not illegal drugs such as cocaine or heroin. With these sobering statistics, it is easy to see that drug abuse is a problem facing many Oklahomans. If you are struggling with addiction to a drug of any kind, whether it is alcohol, illegal drugs, or prescription medications, help is available. Narconon Arrowhead has been providing alternative, effective rehabilitation for nearly five decades.  Warr Acres residents are only a short two and a half hour drive away from one of the country’s best addiction treatment centers.

Narconon Arrowhead’s program, which has been certified by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services  is unlike any other you will find. We use a holistic approach, treating each person as a unique individual. We take the time to find out what is going on in each person’s life, then we provide a program that helps them to address not only the physical factors involved in addiction, such as cravings and withdrawal symptoms, but also the mental, spiritual, and “real-life” factors that are an integral part of the whole story of that person’s addiction. Each Narconon graduate leaves not only physically recovered, but with life tools that they can use to stay on a successful, drug-free path.  Over 11,000 people have successfully fought their addiction thanks to Narconon Arrowhead.  Will you be next? Addiction Treatment Near Warr Acres

People of Warr Acres can easily access our nationally renowned facility via I-40E, OK-9 E, or I-44E. As with any other rehabilitation program, Narconon starts off with a full, assisted withdrawal. This, however, is where the similarities end. It was discovered that drugs lodge in the fatty tissues of the body and can re-enter the bloodstream long after they were last used. These drug deposits contribute to such things as mental fogginess, recurrences of the drug’s effects, and strong cravings for more drugs. Without fully removing these drug deposits from an addict’s body, a full recovery is unpredictable at best. Narconon offers something called the Narconon New Life Detoxification. As the name implies, this process removes the drug build-ups from the body, resulting in greater mental clarity and a reduction or elimination of cravings, bringing about the possibility of a new life for the former addict.

Narconon’s Multi-faceted Approach:

After the physical detoxification, the person next learns to identify and then handle the factors in life that led to addiction in the first place. Among many other tools, they learn how to use communication to build strong, healthy relationships in the future. They also learn how to face up to the things they have done that they are ashamed of. Many recovering addicts experience guilt and depression as they come to realize just how badly they have messed up their lives. Luckily, these feelings go away through the application of Narconon’s life skills training regimen, resulting in a new-found confidence in their ability to take charge in their own life and to win back the trust of those they love.

Drug Abuse Hits Close to Home

Warr Acres has its fair share of drug-related crime and other problems. Just this month, police arrested a nineteen-year-old man on suspicion of possessing and distributing several different illegal drugs. Neighbors of the suspect reported that strangers would visit the home at all hours of the day and night. After making the arrest, officers put a sign on the door that read, “The Dopeman is out of business.” Though the sign is comical, the police hope it also sends a message that drug use will not be tolerated in Warr Acres.

In addition to illegal drugs, the main source of drug-related crime comes from robberies at pharmacies. Dealers often view illegal distribution of medications as an easy source of money, especially if it cost nothing to obtain them (because they were stolen.) Oklahoma drug store robberies have been on the rise, with a startling 80% increase in the last five years. In response, stores have had to implement new security features, such as bars to separate the pharmacy from the rest of the store, and time-delayed safes where highly addictive medications are now stored. It is clear that those addicted to powerful medications will go to great lengths to obtain them.
